A Key Insight
I recently had a thought-provoking conversation with a recruiter and executive support professional, and we dove deep into why candidates often experience low response rates or, worse, get ghosted after interviews. Here's what we uncovered:
In many cases, hiring processes stop altogether due to budget constraints. Employers, especially renowned companies and groups, may decide to halt recruitment without communicating this to candidates. While such decisions are understandable, what isn't is the lack of a simple response to candidates who have already invested their time and effort.
A Message to Employers: Respect your candidates’ time and effort by providing closure, even if it's a "not at this time" response. It reflects your professionalism and keeps your employer brand strong.
A New Approach for Job Seekers: Instead of solely relying on online applications, consider a proactive, modern strategy:
- Focus on building connections. Reach out to high-level managers or senior leadership on LinkedIn.
- Engage with their content, send thoughtful messages, and establish meaningful relationships.
This "twist" in approach not only provides a more direct path but also helps uncover hidden opportunities within hiring processes that may not be visible through traditional methods.
Takeaway: Candidates, shift your strategy. Employers, respect the process. Together, we can create a more transparent and fulfilling hiring experience for all. #Jobsearchtips #careercoaching #networking #recruitmentInsights #professionalconnections
